Shoplifting Arrest – August 1, 2009 @ 1401 hours, Tong
Wang, 39, Belle Mead, NJ was arrested for shoplifting at Costco. A store loss
prevention officer observed Wang open a package of Rogaine foam and place two
cans in his pants pockets. Wang was taken into custody as he tried to exit the
store. Wang was charged with shoplifting and released.
Arrest –
Shoplifting – August 17, 2009 @ 1302 hours, Howard
Starkes Jr., 45, Jersey City, NJ was arrested for shoplifting at Target. A
store loss prevention officer told the arresting officer they observed Starkes
conceal five MP-3 players and a mobile phone in a shopping bag and attempt to
leave the store. After being taken into custody, Starkes was found in
possession of wire cutters and a magnetic security hand key. Starkes was
charged with third degree shoplifting and possession of shoplifting tools. Bail
was set at $10,000 with 10% allowed. Starkes was lodged in the Somerset County
Jail in lieu of bail.
Arrest –
Drugs/Underage Consumption of Alcohol – August 19,
2009 @ 0033 hours, Alyssa Dossantos, 18, Bridgewater, NJ was arrested for
possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in a motor vehicle
that was found parked on Tullo Road. A search of the vehicle was requested
after the arresting officer smelled marijuana as he approached the vehicle. The
search revealed two plastic bags that contained marijuana, several empty plastic
bags, a pipe for smoking marijuana and a marijuana grinder. Dossantos was
charged with possession of CDS under 50 grams and possession of drug
paraphernalia. Two other occupants of the vehicle, Shanna Rivkin, 18,
Martinsville, NJ and Brenden Kane, 18, Martinsville, NJ were charged with
underage consumption of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were
all released pending court.
Arrest –
Shoplifting – August 19, 2009 @ 1834 hours, two 14
year old girls and a 15 year old girl from Plainfield, NJ were arrested for
shoplifting sunglasses at Macy’s. The girls were observed by a store loss
prevention officer placing the sunglasses in one of the girl’s handbags. The
girls were charged with shoplifting and released.
Theft –
August 21, 2009 @ 1344 hours a resident of Old York Road reported a theft had
occurred at their residence. The resident reported that someone had entered
their property and stolen a portable Honda generator and a Devillibis power
washer that were located near the garage. The victim reported each item was
valued at $2,000.
Arrest -
Shoplifting – August 21, 2009 @ 1811 hours, a 16 year
old girl from Hillsborough was arrested for shoplifting $156 worth of clothing
from Macy’s. A loss prevention officer observed the girl tear off the sales
tags from the clothing and place the clothing in her bag. The girl was charged
with shoplifting and released to her mother.
Arrest –
Shoplifting – August 21, 2009 @ 1956 hours, a 16 year
old girl from Newark was arrested for shoplifting a $10 necklace from Claire’s.
A store employee observed the girl remove the sales tag from the necklace and
drop the necklace in a bag she was carrying. The girl was charged with
shoplifting and released to a family friend.
Arrest –
Shoplifting – August 22, 2009 @ 1756 hours, John
Schulenburg, 54, Basking Ridge, NJ was arrested for shoplifting at Costco. A
loss prevention officer observed Schulenburg place a bottle of Advil and a
package of Zyrtec in his pockets and attempt to leave the store without paying
for the items. Schulenburg was charged with shoplifting and released.
Arrest -
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – August 23, 2009 @
0145 hours, Brennan Krivanos, 18, Bridgewater, NJ was arrested for possession of
drug paraphernalia on Stanford Drive. The arresting officer reported that as he
approached a parked car, four individuals ran from the car. Krivanos was
eventually located and returned to the vehicle. The arresting officer located
an empty plastic bag that contained suspected marijuana residue on the rear
seat. Krivanos was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and eluding a
police officer on foot and released. The three other suspects were not
apprehended.
Arrest
– Possession of Fraudulent Government Documents – August 23, 2009 @ 2038 hours,
Januario Maciel, 45, New Brunswick, NJ was arrested subsequent to a motor
vehicle stop on Promenade Boulevard. During the motor vehicle stop, the
arresting officer determined Maciel had provided him with a fictitious name and
he was arrested for hindering apprehension and transported to headquarters.
While at headquarters a friend of Maciel arrived with a license for Maciel that
was issued in Mexico. The license was determined to be fraudulent. Maciel was
charged with fourth degree possession of fraudulent government documents and
hindering apprehension. He was also charged with several motor vehicle
violations and lodged in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.
Arrest -
Theft – August 25, 2009 @ 1932 hours, an employee of
Payless Shoes was arrested for theft. Ralph Thompson, 32, Plainfield, NJ was
arrested after it was determined that he was giving himself a greater employee
discount than was allowed by the store. The investigation revealed that between
June and July, Thompson’s discounts caused the store to lose over $3,700.
Thompson was charged with third degree theft and placed in the Somerset County
Jail in lieu of bail.
Burglary/Theft – August 25, 2009 @ 2144 hours, a
residence on Schindler Terrace was burglarized. The suspect entered the home by
kicking open the front door. An Xbox 360 game system and an Apple IPod Nano
were stolen from the home.
Eluding
Police Arrest – August 26, 2009 @ 2159 hours, while
patrolling on Finderne Avenue, an officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle
stop on a motorcycle. The operator failed to stop and accelerated heading into
Manville. The officer pursued the motorcycle through parts of Manville and
observed the operator run red lights, pass other vehicles on the shoulder and
drive at excessive speeds. The pursuit was eventually terminated due to the
operators reckless driving. The investigation into the operator’s identity lead
to the arrest of Joseph A. Difelice, 21, Raritan, NJ. Difelice was charged with
2nd degree Eluding and multiple motor vehicle violations. He was
lodged in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.
DWI
Arrest – August 27, 2009 @ 0251 hours, Dario C. Garmaz,
36, Bridgewater, NJ was arrested for DWI on Leghorn Avenue. Garmaz was charged
with DWI, refusal to submit breath samples, driving while suspended and
speeding.
Shoplifting – August 27, 2009 @ 1510 hours, Kaysona P.
Miller, 26, South Bound Brook, NJ was arrested for shoplifting at Target. A
loss prevention officer observed Miller fill a shopping cart with $315 worth of
merchandise and exit the store. Miller was taken into custody outside the store
by loss prevention. Miller was charged with shoplifting and released.
Shoplifting – August 27, 2009 @ 1623 hours, Melissa
Ward, 20, Linden, NJ was arrested for shoplifting at Bloomingdale’s. A loss
prevention officer observed Ward remove the security sensors from articles of
clothing and concealing the clothing in her handbag. Ward was taken into
custody by the loss prevention officer as she exited the store. The merchandise
valued at $433 was recovered. Ward was charged with shoplifting and released.
DWI
Arrest – August 28, 2009 @ 0241 hours, Craig M.
Pavlosky, 21, Basking Ridge, NJ was arrested for DWI on Route 202/206. Pavlosky
was charged with DWI, refusal to submit breath samples, driving while suspended
and careless driving.
Burglary/Theft – August 29, 2009 @ 1615 hours, a
garage on Leghorn Avenue was reported burglarized. The garage was entered
through an unlocked door. A snow blower and wood burning stove were stolen from
the garage.
Shoplifting – August 29, 2009 @ 1954 hours, Jessica A.
Ojeda, 18, Plainfield, NJ and Kathleen D. Cortez-Ramos, 18, Plainfield, NJ were
arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s. A loss prevention officer found the women
in possession of merchandise they had stolen from Macy’s. Both women were
charged with shoplifting and released.
Burglary/Theft – August 29, 2009 @ 2048 hours a
resident of Schindler Terrace reported a burglary to their residence. The
suspect entered the residence by kicking open the front door. Two laptop
computers, two Ipods and a cell phone were stolen. A detective responded to the
scene and conducted further investigation that eventually lead to the arrest of
a 17 year old Bridgewater boy. The boy admitted he committed the burglary and
theft. He was lodged in the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center.
Shoplifting – August 30, 2009 @ 1409 hours, Stephen
Lan, 44, Basking Ridge, NJ was arrested for shoplifting at Costco. A loss
prevention officer observed Lan hide a box of cigars and a video game in another
item he was carrying. Lan paid for the other item and exited the store where he
was taken into custody. Lan was charged with shoplifting and released.
