  Shoplifting Arrest – December 2, 2008 @ 1645 hours, Christine Hyde, 38, Chester, NJ was arrested for shoplifting.  A store security officer observed Hyde place two Swavorski crystal Christmas ornaments in a shopping bag.  The two ornaments were valued at $150.

  Theft – December 3, 2008 @ 1915 hours, an employee of Abercrombie and Fitch reported the theft of 151 men’s shirts and sweaters from display tables and shelves.  The stolen merchandise was valued at $5,296.

  Theft – December 4, 2008 @ 1200 hours, an employee of Hamilton School reported the theft of an AKG vocal set.  The handheld transmitter and receiver were valued at $200.

  Theft – December 4, 2008 @ 1804 hours, an employee of the Bose store in the Bridgewater Commons Mall reported the theft of a home theater system valued at $2,999.

  DWI Arrest – December 4, 2008 @ 2343 hours, Jerome D. Foster, 28, Plainfield, NJ was arrested for DWI on Route 22 East.  Foster was charged with DWI and Failure to Maintain a Lane.

  DWI Arrest – December 5, 2008 @ 0017 hours, Richard A. Pabst, 41, Neshanic Station, NJ was arrested for DWI on Route 22 East.  Pabst was charged with DWI and Failure to Observe a Traffic Signal.

  DWI Arrest – December 5, 2008 @ 0136 hours, George Carballo, 40, Bridgewater, NJ was arrested for DWI on Route 28.  Carballo was charged with DWI and Speeding.

  Shoplifting Arrest – December 6, 2008 @ 1359 hours, a juvenile from Warren, NJ was arrested for shoplifting.  A Macy’s security officer observed the juvenile place two pair of earrings and a bracelet in a bag.  The value of the jewelry was $62.

  DWI Arrest – December 6, 2008 @ 2124 hours, George B. Trasak, 45, Easton, PA, was arrested for DWI on Route 28.  Trasak was observed by a Manville police officer lose control of his vehicle on Finderne Avenue then strike a curb and guardrail.  Trasak then fled the scene of the crash.  Trasak was charged with DWI, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, Open Container of Alcohol in a Vehicle, Driving While Suspended and Failure to Report a Motor Vehicle Crash.

  DWI Arrest – December 7, 2008 @ 0107 hours, Jacquelyn E. Dedio, 25, Succasunna, NJ was arrested for DWI on Somerset Corporate Boulevard.  Dedio was charged with DWI and Careless Driving.

  Arrest- Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card – December 7, 2008 1752 hours, Messiah A. Merritt, 18, Brooklyn, NY was arrested for using a fraudulent credit card at the Bridgewater Commons Mall.  An employee of the Apple Store advised the responding police officer that Merritt tried to purchase a Mac Book Pro Computer and an Ipod with a credit card that was fraudulent.  Merritt was also found in possession of a Sony Playstation 3 that he claimed he purchased at another store with the same fraudulent credit card.  Merritt was charged with Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card 3rd degree, Theft by Deception 3rd degree and Criminal Attempt 3rd degree.  He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.

  Arrest - Receiving Stolen Property/Eluding in Motor Vehicle- December 8, 2008 @ 1345 hours, Ernest L. Monroe, 18, New Brunswick, NJ was arrested after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.  Officer Bernhard observed Monroe commit a motor vehicle violation on North Bridge Street at Pannone Drive.  Monroe apparently observed Bernhard and fled south on Grove Street into Somerville Borough.  Monroe passed stopped vehicles, disregarded red traffic lights and drove in excess of 50 MPH on Grove Street in an attempt to evade the police.  The vehicle Monroe was driving was reported stolen in New Brunswick.  Monroe eventually drove onto 5th Street in Somerville Borough and abandoned the vehicle.  He was arrested after he ran into the Raritan River and fell through the ice.  Two juveniles, who were also in the stolen Toyota Camry, were also apprehended.  A female juvenile in the vehicle was found to have her six month old daughter with her in a car seat.  There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.  Monroe was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Eluding and Resisting Arrest.  He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail with bail set at $25,000.  A male juvenile in the vehicle was charged with Joyriding and Resisting Arrest. He was released to the custody of a family member.  The female juvenile was not charged.

  Attempted Burglary – December 9, 2008 @ 1809 hours, a resident of Hillsborough reported to police someone attempted to burglarize their 1997 VW Jetta while it was parked at the Somerset Shopping Center.  The suspect attempted to enter the locked vehicle by damaging both the driver and passenger side doors.  The suspect was not able to enter the vehicle.

  Theft – December 10, 2008 @ 1423 hours, a representative of Waste Management reported the theft of a 30 yard dumpster from a business on Chimney Rock Road.  The dumpster was reported to be green in color and had the numbers 1038 spray painted on the side.

  Shoplifting Arrest – December 10, 2008 @ 1624 hours, a juvenile from Hillsborough was arrested for shoplifting at Bloomingdales.  A security officer observed the juvenile put a $65 wallet in a shopping bag and exit the store without paying.

  DWI Arrest – December 10, 2008 @ 2149 hours, Susan B. McNulty, 40, Bridgewater, NJ was arrested for DWI following a motor vehicle crash on Washington Valley Road.  McNulty was reported to have struck a parked vehicle and a tree.  She was charged with DWI and Careless Driving.

  Shoplifting Arrest – December 12, 2008 @ 1643 hours, Abigail K. Opdyke, 20, Bloomsbury, NJ was arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s.  Store security officers observed Opdyke place a sweater, bracelet and ring, valued at $80, in a bag and leave the store without paying.  Opkyke was charged with shoplifting and released.

  DWI Arrest – December 12, 2008 @ 2257 hours, Broc J. Smith, 29, Hoboken, NJ was arrested for DWI on Van Holten Road.  Smith was charged with DWI, Refusal to Submit Breath Samples, Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle and Uninsured Motorist.

  Shoplifting Arrest – December 12, 2008 @ 2355 hours a juvenile from Oldwick was arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s.  The juvenile was observed placing items of clothing in a bag by store security.  The stolen items, valued over $200, were recovered and returned to Macy’s.  The juvenile was turned over to a family member.

  DWI Arrest – December 13, 2008 @ 0156 hours, Keith S. Binkley, 28, Somerville, NJ was arrested for DWI at the McDonalds on Promenade Boulevard.  Binkley was involved in a motor vehicle crash while in the drive thru pickup line.  Binkley was charged with DWI and Careless Driving.

  Burglary/Theft – December 13, 2008 @ 0813 hours, a resident of Bayley Court reported a burglary and theft from their unlocked vehicle.  Loose change was the only thing reported stolen.

  Burglary/Theft – December 13, 2008 @ 0818 hours, a resident of Sycamore Avenue reported a burglary and theft from two unlocked vehicles.  Loose change and an Ipod were reported stolen from the two vehicles.

  Burglary/Theft – December 13, 2008 @ 0926 hours, a resident of Timothy Place reported a burglary and theft from their unlocked vehicle.  An Ipod was reported stolen from the vehicle.

  Burglary/Theft – December 13, 2008 @ 0929 hours, a resident of Leghorn Avenue reported a burglary and theft from their unlocked vehicle.  An undetermined amount of cash was stolen from the vehicle.

  Burglary/Theft – December 13, 2008 @ 1154 hours, a resident of Karen Place reported a burglary and theft from their unlocked vehicle.  A camera was reported stolen from the vehicle.

  Burglary/Theft – December 13, 2008 @ 1154 hours, a resident of Karen Place reported a burglary and theft from two unlocked vehicles.  Loose change was the only thing reported stolen from the two vehicles.

  Burglary – December 13, 2008 @ 1239 hours, a resident of Chestnut Street reported a burglary to their unlocked vehicle.  The victim told the reporting officer someone rummaged through their vehicle, but nothing was taken.

  Burglary/Theft – December 13, 2008 @ 1817 hours, a resident of Linden Street reported a burglary and theft from their unlocked vehicle.  An Ipod was reported stolen from the vehicle.

  DWI Arrest – December 14, 2008 @ 0032 hours, Leigh B. Cohen, 24, Neshanic Station, NJ was arrested for DWI following a motor vehicle crash on Buchman Court.  Cohen was reported to have struck a curb on Buchman Court.  Cohen was charged with DWI, Careless Driving and Uninsured Motorist.

  Defiant Trespass Arrest – December 14, 2008 @ 0807 hours, Andrew G. Schmitt-Grijalva was arrested for defiant trespass at the Somerset County Vo-Tech.  Police had responded to the Vo-Tech for a burglar alarm when they located Schmitt-Grijalva at the school.  Schmitt-Grijalva admitted to an officer he had entered the school through an unlocked door.  He was charged with defiant trespass and released.

  Theft – December 14, 2008 @ 1251 hours, a business owner on Old York Road reported the theft of a snow plow frame from a truck that was parked at the business.  The snow plow frame was estimated to cost $2,000 to replace.

  Shoplifting Arrest – December 15, 2008 @ 2020 hours, Brandon R. Lipke, 25, Somerville, NJ and Stephanie J. Rodker, 25, Somerville, NJ were arrested and charged with Third Degree Shoplifting at Wegmans.  Lipke and Rodker were observed placing food and alcohol in canvas Wegmans bags.  They were then observed by two police officers exiting the store without paying for the items.  They are accused of stealing over $835 worth of merchandise.  They were released without bail.

  Drug Arrest – December 15, 2008 @ 2147 hours, Aldo J. Castro, 20, Bridgewater, NJ was arrested for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Staffler Road.  Castro was stopped for a motor vehicle violation and subsequently arrested on a warrant out of the Seaside Heights Municipal Court.  While being arrested for the active warrant a small bag of marijuana was found in Castro’s pocket.  Castro was charged with Possession of Marijuana under 50 Grams, Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Improper Display of a License Plate and Unlicensed Driver.  He was released after $500 was posted for the warrant.

  DWI Arrest – December 16, 2008 @ 0007 hours, Rebecca L. Ortiz-Moya, 30, Manville, NJ was arrested for DWI on Finderne Avenue. Ortiz-Moya was released after being charged with DWI, Speeding, Failure to Maintain a Lane and Failure to Exhibit Documents.

  Theft – December 16, 2008 @ 1304 hours, an employee of Abercrombie Kids told police that an unknown person stole 29 bottles of cologne from a display.  The cologne was valued at $870.

  Burglary/Theft – December 16, 2008 @ 1604 hours, a resident of Foothill Road reported a burglary and theft at their residence.  The actor gained entry at the rear of the residence by prying off a window screen and forcing open the window.  Jewelry and video game equipment was reported stolen from the home.
