The Youth Services Bureau is comprised of one School Resource Officer (SRO).

Officer Edwards - All Schools
The youth officer is also involved in a variety
of community programs that allow the students and adults to see them in a
positive light. Some of the programs include: Headquarter Tours for
groups, Safety Town, Somerset County 4-H Fair, Somerset County Law
Enforcement Day, Somerset County Special Olympics and the Special
Olympics Torch Run. The bureau maintains membership in the Youth Services
Commission, Municipal Alliance, Juvenile Officers Association and the
Somerset Alcohol Council. The participation with these agencies has
allowed the bureau to obtain valuable training resources for the police
department.
In addition to the school and community activities, the
youth officer also assists the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) by
handling the majority of the juvenile case follow-ups. The case follow-up
includes conducting any necessary interviews, determining what charges
should be sought and at which level (Station House Adjustment or
Prosecutor’s Office referral) and completing the necessary paperwork for
those cases.
