Bridgewater, NJ – On Saturday, August 26, 2018 at 2343 hours, the Bridgewater Police Department responded to US 22 eastbound at the intersection with Country Club Road to investigate a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 23 year old, Chandler McCarthy, of Warren, New Jersey. McCarthy had been traveling east on US 22 in a 2012 Toyota Prius. The pedestrian was identified as 28 year old Shivangi Sharma. Sharma had been walking in the left lane of the roadway at the intersection of Country Club Road. Sharma was transported to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville where she was pronounced dead.
The crash is still under investigation by the Bridgewater Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
